Kaizen Institute Announces the Passing of Charlie Sharman, Advisor of Kaizen Institute
11 January 2024
With tremendous sadness, we inform you of the passing of Charlie Sharman, Advisor of the Kaizen Institute Global Group of Companies; a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
As one of Kaizen Institute’s first consultants in the 90s until the early 2000s, he learned KAIZEN™ directly from Masaaki Imai, founder of Kaizen Institute. He proudly described himself as a disciple of Imai, with the ‘wisdom of 1’000 KAIZEN™ Events’. After a 10-year-long position as Vice President of Operations Europe at Danaher and other consulting positions, Charlie returned to Kaizen Institute as an advisor.
He co-authored the book Strat to Action (McGraw Hill 2019) with Alberto Bastos, Managing Partner of Kaizen Institute Western Europe. Charlie helped many of Kaizen Institute’s clients by strengthening the KAIZEN™ methodology application in top management and Hoshin implementation.
Charlie made great contributions within Kaizen Institute globally, regionally, and locally. His vision and insights for the betterment of the entire group will be carried forward through Kaizen Institute’s top level Hoshin deployment.
Antonio Costa, CEO of Kaizen Institute, states, “Charlie was the best problem solver that I ever met. He was always resolving concerns through a rational process and with a very pragmatic, strong, and analytical approach. Charlie was a paradigm changer, always looking for breakthroughs at any level of business, and used true KAIZEN™ authenticity every day.” Charlie always said, “KAIZEN™ is leadership intensive.”
Charlie passed away on 4 January 2024 at the age of 69, leaving his unmatched legacy of Continuous Improvement learning and journey application instilled within many of us.
Our deepest condolences go to his family, friends, and those who worked with and learned from Charlie.
