In an interactive session, Kaizen Institute’s experts introduced students to the fundamentals of Lean and KAIZEN™, demonstrating how these methodologies have shaped industries worldwide.

The session explored key topics, including:

• The History of KAIZEN™ and Lean Thinking – From its roots in post-war Japan to becoming a global movement, we examined how Kaizen principles have driven continuous improvement across industries. 
• Core KAIZEN™ Principles – The philosophy of continuous, incremental change and how small improvements lead to long-term success. 
• Fundamental CI Tools – Practical techniques such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act), and Root Cause Analysis, which enable organisations to systematically eliminate waste and optimise processes. 
• Real-World CI Applications – Case studies showcasing the power of KAIZEN™ in action, including an in-depth look at how Lean methodologies supported Portugal’s COVID-19 vaccination programme, ensuring efficiency, reduced waste, and optimised patient flow. 
• Problem-Solving Mindset – How organisations foster a culture of continuous learning and adaptability, preparing for challenges in an ever-changing business environment. 

Students engaged in lively discussions, asking insightful questions about Lean transformations in various industries, from manufacturing to healthcare and beyond.
